About the role
As a Grant Writer, you’ll partner with climate innovators to develop competitive proposals for public funding opportunities. You’ll work across the entire proposal development process—from project design through submission—advising clients on strategy and positioning, while building your expertise in the grant funding landscape.
This is a fully remote role in a fast-paced team environment. Contractors who deliver consistently are considered for advancement opportunities.
Key responsibilities
• Work with senior staff and other team members to guide proposals through the entire development process: project design, document preparation, and submission
• Support multiple proposal projects at the same time, maintaining quality while meeting deadlines
• Draft technical narratives, work plans, budget justifications, partner letters, and other key proposal elements for public funding programmes
• Conduct research from credible sources and gather internal data to support proposal content
• Act as a strategic advisor to client teams, helping refine project scope, business approaches, and funding strategy before drafting begins
• Work with external partners and stakeholders to support proposal development and partnership building
Skills/background needed
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent)
• Fluency in English with clear, compelling writing style and strong research skills
• Minimum of six years of grant writing experience; at least three years leading grant proposals that secured funding
• Strong knowledge of scientific or technical topics relevant to climate and sustainability solutions
• Proven experience securing grants from public funding agencies, particularly those supporting innovation and climate projects
• Strong communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and external partners
• Proficiency with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and collaborative work platforms
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work independently
• Full equipment and technical capability to work remotely with international teams
• Commitment to climate and sustainability solutions
Preferred:
• Graduate degree in a scientific or technical field
• Experience evaluating grant proposals for public funding programmes
• Multilingual writing skills and experience with national funding sources
• Knowledge of climate sectors such as renewable energy, energy storage, industrial decarbonization, hydrogen, transportation, and advanced manufacturing
• Project management or research administration certification
