About the role
You’ll work with a fully remote team to support the development of grant proposals and funding applications. As a Grant Writer, you’ll partner with clients and internal teams throughout the entire proposal process—from initial research and project design through to final submission. This is a hands-on role where you’ll develop your skills in technical writing, research, and strategic communication while building proposals that help secure funding for climate-focused projects.
You’ll work alongside experienced writers and senior staff, receiving guidance and feedback as you grow in the role. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in grant writing while contributing to meaningful work in the climate and clean energy sectors.
What you’ll do
• Draft sections of grant proposals, including project descriptions, work plans, budget justifications, and supporting letters
• Conduct research using published sources and internal data to gather content and evidence for proposals
• Work with senior staff and other team members to develop and refine proposals, maintaining quality across multiple projects
• Support clients by helping to shape project scope and funding strategy before writing begins
• Meet project deadlines and manage your workload across multiple proposals simultaneously
• Communicate clearly with internal teams, clients, and external partners to support proposal development
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Fluency in English with strong writing, grammar, and research skills
• Some experience in grant writing, research, technical writing, or a related field (or strong willingness to learn)
• Interest in climate solutions, clean energy, or related sectors
• Proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and standard online collaboration tools
• Ability to work independently, manage your time well, and meet deadlines
• Reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace to work from home
• Weekday availability to check and respond to project communications
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality work
Nice to have:
• Graduate degree in a scientific, technical, or related field
• Knowledge of renewable energy, energy storage, industrial decarbonization, or other climate sectors
• Familiarity with federal or state grant programmes in the climate or energy space
