Technical Writer & Editor – Part Time Remote

We are hiring a Technical Writer and Editor for a content development and training modernization programme. You will be the editorial lead, ensuring all written materials meet consistent quality standards and are ready for client review and approval.

This is a deliberately part-time role because editorial oversight works best as a single-owner responsibility rather than a task spread across multiple team members. You will work with instructional designers, graphic designers, and accessibility specialists to produce a portfolio of courses and training materials.

What you will do

Plan, manage, and coordinate documentation across the full project lifecycle.

Write, edit, and rewrite complex technical material, including lesson plans, facilitator and participant guides, systems documentation, user manuals, and reports.

Collect and interpret technical data, working with subject matter experts to confirm accuracy.

Produce technical illustrations for training and presentations.

Ensure deliverables conform to industry standards and quality requirements, and manage document layout and production.

Translate complex information into clear, concise content for varied audiences.

What you need

Skills/background needed: Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical communication, journalism, or a related field. Experience in technical writing and editing, including documentation produced for review and formal acceptance by clients. Demonstrated ability to maintain a single editorial standard across products written by multiple authors. Strong working knowledge of document layout and production in standard productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar tools. Availability during core hours Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern time) within an agreed part-time schedule.

What helps

Experience with training or curriculum documentation including lesson plans, facilitator guides, and participant materials. Familiarity with document accessibility standards. Experience working on client projects with formal feedback and revision cycles.
