Role: Communications Writer
Position Summary
Develop clear, audience-focused communications that translate complex information into accessible content for varied audiences. This role supports communications teams by creating culturally appropriate materials on health, wellness, and public health topics. Work includes fact sheets, message guides, frequently asked questions, scripts, issue briefs, web content, email campaigns, presentations, and success stories that meet accessibility and plain-language standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop communication plans, message guides, creative briefs, talking points, and frequently asked questions
- Create fact sheets, issue briefs, web content, email campaigns, presentations, scripts, and outreach materials
- Translate scientific and programme information into clear, audience-appropriate language
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, leadership, and partner organizations
- Apply plain-language and accessibility standards to all content
- Track communication requests, deadlines, review cycles, and outcomes
Skills/Background Needed
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in writing, communications, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible language
- Experience working collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
- Experience with health, science, or public sector communications is a plus, but not required
