About the role

You’ll join a small, collaborative team to own and grow our social media presence across multiple platforms. This is a hands-on role where you’ll concept, create, and publish compelling content that brings our mission to life. You’ll work on content creation and community engagement, implement social strategy across platforms, track performance, and continuously refine our approach based on results.

What you’ll do

Content Creation & Community Engagement

• Concept, edit, and publish engaging social-first content including short-form video, graphics, carousels, stories, and platform-native formats using storytelling techniques and current content trends.

• Own and manage our social editorial calendar, identifying timely and evergreen story opportunities.

• Build genuine relationships with supporters, partners, and community members, and turn those relationships into social content and collaborations.

• Keep our presence active and human through consistent engagement, tagging, reposting, and community building.

• Proactively identify and pursue new collaboration opportunities that expand our reach.

• Direct and delegate content work to freelancers and volunteers as needed, providing clear creative direction.

• Create, shoot, edit, and publish content with a distinct and compelling voice.

Strategy & Growth

• Implement social strategy across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.

• Support strategy goals by working with team members on content and approach that drives results.

• Track organic and paid social performance, translating metrics into clear takeaways and next steps.

• Build and maintain an evergreen content calendar aligned with organizational themes, campaigns, and key dates.

What makes a great fit

• A self-starter mindset — you spot opportunities and act on them, and can execute an existing strategy while knowing when to adjust.

• Experience with social media management for any organization, including comfort with both organic and paid social approaches.

• Strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution — you can plan a campaign and create or delegate the content for it.

• Strong content creation skills including shooting and editing short-form video, with a sharp understanding of internet culture, trends, and platform best practices.

• Comfort reading analytics to identify top performers and inform decisions.

• A collaborative style suited to a small team and external partners.

• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, video editing software, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Drive, or similar platforms. (We’ll teach you what you don’t know.)

What we offer

• Full training and support to develop your social media skills.

• Health, dental, and vision insurance.

• Paid time off including vacation days and sick leave.

• Flexible work schedule and fully remote work options.

• Supportive team environment with opportunities to grow.

• Exposure to high-profile partnerships and collaborations.
