About the Role:
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our team in a leadership capacity. This is a player-coach role where you’ll both lead a small team of writers and contribute hands-on to document creation. You’ll work on standardizing quality management documents across multiple global operations, ensuring consistency, compliance, and clarity across all outputs.
This is a fully remote position. You’ll maintain a dedicated home workspace with reliable high-speed internet and work core hours that align with team and business needs.
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership:
• Lead, mentor, and coordinate a small team of technical writers
• Assign work based on process priorities and timelines
• Serve as the main point of contact between the writing team and program leadership
• Monitor team workload, capacity, and output quality; escalate issues when needed
• Support onboarding of new team members
• Review writers’ work for consistency and compliance
• Maintain shared document folders, structures, and trackers
• Work with change analysts to route documents through the change control process
• Help improve writing workflows, style guides, and templates on an ongoing basis
Hands-On Technical Writing:
• Transform draft content into polished, consistent quality management documents
• Ensure all documents comply with standardization style guides and content standards
• Correct spelling, grammar, and formatting using tracked changes in Microsoft Word
• Collaborate with process owners and stakeholders to align on edits and feedback
• Create and manage final document versions and markup copies
• Update document trackers and communicate status to leadership
• Manage incoming work through request forms
• Ensure all submissions include required attachments and documentation
Skills and Background Needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Life Sciences, Quality, or a related field
• 5+ years of technical writing experience, ideally in a regulated medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment
• Experience with quality management documentation including standard operating procedures, work instructions, policies, and forms
• Strong knowledge of document control and change control processes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word (tracked changes, styles, formatting), SharePoint, and project lifecycle management systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor a team
• Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and writing consistency
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills — ability to work collaboratively across teams and global operations
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with regulatory standards such as FDA quality system requirements is helpful
• Experience with AI writing tools for document improvement is a plus
• Player-coach mindset: leads by example and contributes directly to deliverables
• Proactive communicator who reaches out to leadership and authors when needed
• Organized, action-oriented, and focused on customer needs
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract Length: Ongoing
Location: Open to applicants worldwide.
