We’re looking for a thoughtful legal writer to create clear, practical legal content focused on trusts, estates, and related practice areas. You’ll research legal topics in depth, write engaging content for legal professionals, and collaborate with experienced lawyers and subject matter experts to develop resources that address real practitioner needs.
This is a fully remote role where you’ll work independently and as part of a supportive team. We provide comprehensive training and mentorship to help you develop your legal writing skills.
What You’ll Do
• Write substantive legal content on trusts, estates, guardianship, elder law, and related practice areas
• Conduct legal research and analysis using legal research platforms
• Collaborate with experienced attorneys and judges to review, refine, and develop content
• Edit and update existing legal content to keep it current and accurate
• Write articles that address current legal developments and emerging issues
• Manage projects independently and meet regular deadlines
Skills/Background Needed
Essential:
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active admission to the State Bar of California
• At least 2 years of legal practice experience (5+ years preferred)
• At least 2 years of legal editing or legal writing experience
• Excellent writing and editing skills with strong command of English grammar and style
• Strong research and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent project management and organisational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred:
• Experience with trusts and estates litigation
• Experience with guardianship and elder law matters
• Knowledge of special needs trusts and Medi-Cal planning
• Experience working in a large law firm or government legal department
• Master’s degree in taxation or specialisation in estate planning and probate law
