Job Summary:
As a Social Media Content Creator, you’ll bring a brand to life through dynamic social media content. Working closely with multimedia and editorial teams, you’ll conceptualize, shoot, edit, and publish engaging visual content aligned with key marketing goals.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage active social channels, partner with internal teams to elevate their visual storytelling, and actively engage our online audience. Through this work, you’ll strengthen engagement, increase brand awareness, and showcase the people, programs, and experiences that make the organization distinctive.
You’ll understand how audiences engage across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms. You’ll know how to capture attention in the first few seconds, write compelling copy, and produce high-performing short-form video content that turns casual viewers into loyal followers.
This role requires creative instincts, sound editorial judgment, an understanding of social media culture, and the ability to produce high-quality content in a fast-moving environment. No prior experience is required—full training will be provided to help you succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling
• Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit engaging short-form video content (such as Reels, TikToks, and Shorts) and static image assets on a daily basis using mobile and camera equipment
• Identify, interview, and feature people to produce authentic content highlighting key moments, events, and organizational initiatives
• Write clear, platform-specific captions, scripts, headlines, and calls to action aligned with the brand tone
• Ensure all assets comply with brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and copyright requirements
• Manage the creation and distribution of communications materials and support content team members
Strategy & Platform Growth
• Develop and maintain a consistent posting schedule across key social channels
• Collaborate with internal teams to align social strategy with broader organizational priorities
• Monitor industry news, trending concepts, and platform updates to keep content relevant and test new formats
Community, Analytics & Monitoring
• Actively engage with the community in comments and direct messages to build a strong digital presence
• Track key metrics (reach, engagement, conversions) and use insights to optimize future content
• Provide regular reporting on campaign performance
Skills/background needed:
Essential
• Familiarity with creating short-form video content and visual storytelling (a portfolio or samples welcome, but not required—we’ll train you)
• Basic experience with mobile or camera shooting and video editing (or willingness to learn editing software such as CapCut or Adobe Premiere)
• Understanding of current social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter)
• Basic design skills using tools like Canva or similar platforms
• Ability to write clear, engaging captions and copy
• Willingness to interpret basic social media metrics and use data to improve content
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Preferred (but not required)
• Experience in higher education, non-profit, or mission-driven environments
• Experience with social media management tools
• Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices
• Experience covering live events under tight deadlines
Location: On-site position requiring regular physical presence to capture content and engage with the community.
Schedule: Full time. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to cover events and time-sensitive updates.
Work Environment:
This role involves regular movement throughout office spaces, meeting rooms, and various campus or organizational locations. Daily work includes extended use of a computer and keyboard. You’ll handle equipment such as cameras, lighting, and audio gear across both indoor and outdoor settings. The work environment is dynamic, often involving multiple tasks that require strong organizational skills. Vision requirements include the ability to see clearly at close and far distances and adjust focus as needed.
