Social Media Manager – Remote (Entry Level)

We’re looking for a Freelance Social Media Manager to support an established hair and beauty business.

This is a great fit for someone who can take ownership of the social media function, bring ideas to the table, and keep content moving with confidence. You’ll understand that strong social media content starts with knowing the brand, its audience, communication guidelines, goals, and priorities—and you’ll use that foundation to plan and create content that makes sense for the business.

Most of the work can be completed from home, though you’ll need to be available for occasional in-person content capture sessions.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and manage monthly content plans that support consistent daily posting across social platforms
  • Batch-create and prepare content in advance to maintain a steady posting schedule
  • Identify content themes, campaigns, and opportunities that align with the brand
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to strengthen the overall social media direction
  • Write engaging captions, calls to action, and social copy that match the brand’s voice
  • Schedule and publish approved content across relevant social platforms
  • Repurpose existing photos and videos into additional social content
  • Participate in and help coordinate periodic in-person content capture sessions
  • Help plan what should be captured so content sessions are efficient and produce reusable material
  • Organize social media content and digital assets for easy access
  • Monitor content performance and use insights to improve future posts
  • Stay aware of relevant social media trends and identify which ones make sense for the brand
  • Communicate proactively about content needs, approvals, priorities, and opportunities

What We’re Looking For

You should have some experience managing social media for a business or brand and be comfortable taking ownership of your work. The ideal candidate:

  • Has social media management experience
  • Can demonstrate previous work through a portfolio, examples, or relevant accounts
  • Understands how brand voice, audience, goals, and positioning influence content
  • Is comfortable developing ideas and making recommendations
  • Can work independently while knowing when client input or approval is needed
  • Has strong written communication and copywriting skills
  • Understands short-form video and social-first content creation
  • Is comfortable batching, planning, and scheduling content in advance
  • Is organized and able to manage content calendars, deadlines, approvals, and digital assets
  • Can interpret basic social media performance data and use it to improve future content
  • Is reliable, responsive, and comfortable working directly with a business owner
  • Is available for occasional in-person content capture sessions

Experience with beauty, lifestyle, or other visually driven consumer brands is helpful but not required. Experience with social media strategy is also a plus—while this role focuses on social media management and execution, we’d love someone who can contribute thoughtful ideas, help shape content direction, and make recommendations based on brand goals and performance.

This May Not Be a Fit If…

This opportunity may not be the right fit if your experience is primarily limited to scheduling pre-created posts, you prefer receiving detailed instructions for every piece of content, or you’re not available for occasional in-person work.

We’re looking for someone who can bring strong execution, initiative, creativity, and good judgment to the role.

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.

Contract length: Freelance independent contractor position.

Location: Remote work with occasional in-person sessions required.
