Chat Support Specialist – Accounting (Work From Home, Entry Level)

The Role

You will be the primary point of contact for clients, handling day-to-day communication, answering questions, and coordinating their needs. Your role is to understand what clients need, respond promptly, and connect them with the right specialist when required. This is a client-facing position where strong communication and problem-solving matter most.

You’ll work from home, managing client relationships via chat, email, and phone. Full training will be provided to help you understand accounting workflows, deadlines, and common client questions.

What You’ll Do

Client Communication: Respond to client messages and requests promptly, ensuring their concerns are addressed or routed to the right team member.

Build Relationships: Support clients professionally and calmly, even when they’re stressed or upset, and help them feel confident in our service.

Understand Workflows: Learn how accounting and tax processes work so you can answer routine questions, spot what’s missing, and know when to escalate to a specialist.

Coordinate Tasks: Keep track of client requests, deadlines, and follow-ups using our project tracking tools, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

Maintain Records: Keep client information, communication history, and progress notes organized and accurate so the team can serve them effectively.

Support Onboarding: Help new clients understand expectations, timelines, and what they need to provide.

Improve Processes: Spot recurring issues or delays and suggest practical ways to make our service smoother and faster.

Skills/background needed:

Essential:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills—clear, professional, and friendly

• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple client requests at once

• Calm under pressure and comfortable with difficult conversations

• Willingness to learn accounting and tax concepts (no prior experience required)

• Comfort working independently from home and taking ownership of tasks

• Basic familiarity with email, chat platforms, and project tracking tools

Helpful (but not required):

• Previous customer service or client-facing experience

• Basic knowledge of accounting or tax processes

• Experience using project tracking or CRM tools

• Experience with shared inboxes or workflow management
