About this role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic entry-level journalist to join our newsroom. You’ll create compelling stories across multiple platforms—combining strong writing, photography, and video production to engage audiences online and on air. If you’re a creative storyteller who understands how to share news across social media, digital channels, and traditional formats, we’d love to hear from you. No prior experience necessary—we’ll train you in all the tools and techniques you need.
What you’ll be doing:
• Write, shoot, produce and edit stories for online and on-air content within deadlines
• Develop story ideas and pitch them at daily editorial meetings
• Conduct interviews and build relationships with community sources
• Perform live reporting during developing or breaking news situations
• Research facts and verify information for accuracy and credibility
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and share content
• Enhance stories using creative production techniques, graphics and multimedia elements
• Write in an engaging, authentic and compelling manner
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing skills and a genuine interest in journalism
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle breaking news situations calmly
• Good organizational skills and solid news judgment
• Strong communication skills and ethical decision-making
• Proven ability to create content for social media and digital platforms
• Enthusiasm for learning video production and editing software
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations for reporting
• No prior experience required—we provide full training on all tools and newsroom procedures
