We’re looking for an Editorial Assistant to support our publishing team. You’ll work with editors and publishers on book projects from start to finish, helping to evaluate new submissions, manage production timelines, and coordinate between authors, agents, and internal teams.
This is a great entry-level role if you love books and want to learn how publishing works from the inside. No prior experience is required—we’ll provide full training on our systems and processes.
What you’ll do:
• Support publishers and editors on acquiring and managing book projects
• Read and evaluate book proposals for potential publication
• Help prepare acquisition materials like financial summaries and memos
• Enter and manage book information in our content management system
• Write descriptive copy for books and fact sheets
• Attend and help organize editorial and marketing meetings
• Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, managing communications, and organizing materials
• Work toward independently editing a manuscript during your first year
Skills/background needed:
• Strong passion for books and publishing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines while staying accurate
• Good attention to detail
• Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with databases is helpful
• Previous publishing, editorial, or journalism experience is a plus, but not required
• Responsive and collegial—you’ll work with authors, agents, and colleagues across different locations
