Technical Writer/Editor – Aviation Documentation (Entry Level)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to develop, maintain, and deliver comprehensive training and documentation materials for aviation systems. This role is perfect for someone with a background in aviation or technical fields who is ready to transition into technical writing. You’ll work closely with engineering, logistics, and programme management teams to create clear, user-focused documentation and training products.

Full training will be provided to help you become proficient with the systems you’ll be documenting. We’re looking for someone detail-oriented, organised, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain technical documentation including operator manuals, maintenance manuals, procedures, checklists, and quick reference guides
• Create training materials such as instructor-led content, student guides, presentations, and assessments
• Coordinate with engineering and programme management teams to ensure documentation accuracy and currency
• Submit technical materials for formal review, validation, and approval
• Incorporate feedback and required changes in a timely manner
• Support training events and demonstrations as needed
• Maintain organisation and version control of all documentation and training materials

Skills/Background Needed:

• Background in aviation, military systems, or technical fields (training will be provided)
• Ability to learn complex systems and translate that knowledge into clear, user-focused written content
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn technical documentation and training material development
• Strong writing, editing, and organisational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Nice to Have:

• Prior experience in technical writing or training development
• Familiarity with training development frameworks
• Knowledge of configuration management principles
• Experience supporting government or defence programmes
