Technical Writer – Equipment Documentation (Entry Level)

This position involves creating clear written technical instructions and providing training on the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. You’ll watch equipment in action and translate those processes into easy-to-understand written guides for customers. A strong mechanical or electrical mindset is valuable, along with confidence presenting to small groups. Travel may be required for customer training sessions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding format, content, order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology

Read and interpret technical procedures and documents including engineering drawings, electrical and fluid schematics, parts lists and specifications to accurately describe operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting

Select photographs, drawings, sketches and diagrams to illustrate material that meets customer requirements

Edit, review, or refine material prepared by other writers

Travel to customer facilities to train customers on the proper use and care of equipment

Skills/background needed:

Self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational and analytical abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

Willing to travel as needed for customer training

A background in technical communications, engineering, or a related field is preferred, though relevant experience in technical training or instruction is equally valued

Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.

Contract length: Permanent, full-time

Location: On-site role based at the workplace.
