About the Role
We’re looking for a talented writer and editor to produce high-quality feature and narrative content, plus provide editorial support across our communications and marketing team. You’ll be responsible for developing compelling stories, editing materials to meet our standards, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver polished written content on deadline.
This role is perfect for someone who loves both deep storytelling and precise editing. You’ll work with a diverse team to identify compelling narratives, develop engaging content for multiple platforms, and ensure all written materials are clear, accurate, and on-brand.
What You’ll Do
Editing & Editorial Support
Edit and proofread a wide range of materials including newsletters, announcements, reports, and marketing content to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistent tone, and adherence to AP style and our editorial guidelines. Provide day-to-day editorial support across communications projects, maintaining quality and consistency. Support editorial workflows, version control, and production deadlines.
Feature Writing & Content Development
Research, develop, and write engaging feature and narrative stories. Produce compelling content for print and digital platforms, including web features, blog posts, and publications. Identify and pitch story ideas in collaboration with team members and subject-matter experts. Conduct interviews and background research to support accurate, audience-focused storytelling. Create clear, engaging marketing and advertising copy in support of campaigns and initiatives.
Publications & Project Support
Support production of major publications by drafting and editing content, coordinating inputs, assisting with image selection, and partnering with design staff. Track project milestones and deadlines to ensure timely delivery. Adapt content for web and multi-channel distribution.
Team Collaboration
Participate in editorial planning meetings and content discussions. Build productive working relationships across teams to identify story opportunities. Assist colleagues with editing and proofreading needs. Provide updates on projects and activities.
Skills/background needed: Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, particularly in feature writing and editing. Strong attention to detail and editorial judgment. Knowledge of AP style and institutional style standards. Proactive mindset with ability to identify storytelling opportunities independently. Strategic thinking that connects writing to audience engagement. Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Commitment to inclusive, accessible communications. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and collaborative editing tools. Experience with project management tools is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or related field preferred, but demonstrated writing ability and relevant job experience are equally valued.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: One year limited-term position.
