Content Writer – Entry Level (Remote)

We’re looking for an entry-level content writer to develop engaging editorial content across multiple platforms and audiences. Reporting to the communications team, you’ll receive writing assignments based on organizational priorities and work collaboratively to report, write, edit, and produce compelling content for websites, newsletters, digital magazines, and other channels.

Your primary focus will be on creating clear, accurate, and engaging content that communicates complex information to general audiences. You’ll work with faculty, students, subject-matter experts, and communications colleagues to identify sources, conduct interviews, develop stories, and ensure all content is audience-centered and well-aligned with organizational standards.

You’ll also provide editing and editorial support across the organization, helping maintain consistent standards for accuracy, clarity, style, brand alignment, and publication readiness.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll have a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. You should have some professional experience in communications, journalism, writing, editing, or public relations, and a demonstrated ability to translate technical, academic, or complex information into clear content for non-technical audiences.

Strong skills in interviewing, reporting, writing, editing, proofreading, and fact-checking are essential. You should be comfortable writing for multiple audiences and formats, managing multiple assignments and deadlines, and collaborating with editors, communicators, and other partners. You’ll also need to be open to receiving editorial direction and revising work effectively.

A working knowledge of AP style or comparable professional editorial standards is required.

Preferred experience includes:

Writing or editing in higher education, science, research, or related environments; writing about scientific or technical subjects for general audiences; developing alumni, donor, or fundraising communications; writing magazine, newsletter, or long-form feature content; familiarity with content management systems or email publication platforms; and experience with digital publishing tools.
