About the role
We’re looking for a Specification Writer to support the development of technical specifications for construction and design projects. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to create accurate, clear documentation that guides construction and ensures all project requirements are met.
This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work from home part of the week while collaborating in-office with your team. No prior experience in specifications is required—we provide full training and support to help you develop expertise in construction documentation, building systems, and materials.
What you’ll do
• Prepare technical specifications and project documentation across projects of varying types and sizes
• Work with architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure specifications and drawings stay aligned
• Support quality assurance processes to verify accuracy and completeness of project documents
• Research products, materials, and construction systems to support specification development
• Review submittals, substitutions, and change proposals during the construction phase
• Contribute to developing and maintaining standard specification templates
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Interest in learning about construction specifications, building systems, and materials
• Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to develop technical knowledge through on-the-job training
Prior experience in specifications or construction is helpful but not required. We welcome applications from recent graduates and those looking to start a career in construction documentation.
