Technical Writer – Software Documentation (Entry Level)

Position Overview

We’re seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. You’ll create clear, user-friendly documentation for software products, translating complex information into simple, engaging guides that help customers succeed.

No prior technical writing experience is required — we provide full training and support to help you develop your skills on the job.

What You’ll Do

• Research, outline, write, and edit documentation including help files, user guides, and reference materials

• Create graphics and visual aids to illustrate complex information

• Learn the software you’re documenting to understand its features deeply, then explain them clearly to users

• Review project requirements and specifications to identify documentation needs

• Review documentation written by team members for clarity, accuracy, and completeness

• Suggest improvements to existing content and develop new approaches for better user experience

Skills/background needed

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word (templates, styles, formatting)

• Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar PDF tools

• Ability to create graphics using tools like Photoshop or Visio

• Experience capturing and editing screenshots

• Strong written communication skills

• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Willingness to quickly learn complex topics

• Bachelor’s degree in technical communications, English, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Nice to have: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, experience with AI tools, or background in software or financial services industries.

Location

On-site position in Omaha, Nebraska. This is primarily an in-office role with potential for hybrid flexibility once you’re fully trained and able to work independently. You must be able to commute to our office location.
