What to Expect
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to work alongside engineers and subject matter experts to document manufacturing processes and equipment operation. You’ll be responsible for transforming technical information into clear, easy-to-follow documentation that helps teams do their jobs effectively.
In this role, you’ll capture information through notes, recordings, and photographs, then transform it into Manufacturing Instructions, visual guides, training checklists, and maintenance documents. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where you’ll learn constantly and grow your skills in real time. Full training will be provided—no prior manufacturing experience is necessary.
You’ll have a passion for clear communication and helping others learn through excellent writing and instruction. You’re detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously. As you grow in the role, there’s potential to lead and mentor a small team of technical writers.
What You’ll Do
• Compose instructional documents on manufacturing topics by working step-by-step with engineers to capture accurate details
• Take notes and photographs on-site to gather information for new documentation
• Create clear, consistent documentation using templates and style guides
• Escalate questions and issues promptly and clearly with team members
• Manage document versions and maintain organized file histories
• Juggle multiple overlapping projects at different stages and contribute to process improvements
• Potentially interview, train, and manage other technical writers as you progress
Skills/Background Needed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Ability to translate technical or verbal information into clear, step-by-step written procedures
• Excellent listening and observation skills
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Comfort working under pressure while managing competing deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience with digital photography (including still images, close-up detail work, and basic image editing) is a plus
• Experience reading mechanical drawings is a plus
• Prior manufacturing or industrial experience is helpful but not required
