Role Summary:
We’re looking for an entry-level Communications Writer to help craft and share compelling messages with diverse audiences. In this role, you’ll write content, manage social media, build relationships with media contacts, and develop communication plans that support organizational goals. You’ll help shape how we communicate across all channels—from press releases to social media to newsletters. Full training will be provided, and no prior professional experience is necessary.
What You’ll Do:
• Write and edit communication materials including press releases, website content, social media posts, newsletters, and internal communications with clear, consistent messaging• Create engaging social media content, schedule posts, and track how audiences respond to what we share• Build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts, journalists, and community partners• Help prepare and deliver presentations and speeches to internal and external audiences• Research industry trends and audience preferences to inform what we create• Help coordinate media coverage by preparing materials, setting up interviews, and responding to media requests• Work with marketing, design, and website teams to create campaigns that combine writing and visuals• Proofread and review all materials to ensure they’re accurate, professional, and on-brand before sharing
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail• Comfort with social media platforms and basic analytics• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, including public speaking• Willingness to learn journalism principles and AP style guidelines• Ability to work well in a team with people from different departments• Basic familiarity with website tools and willingness to learn graphic design fundamentals• No prior professional communications experience required—we provide full training
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Part time, 20 hours per week
