Contract length: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Location: On-site position

About the role:

We’re looking for an entry-level Communications Writer to join our team. In this role, you’ll help create clear, engaging written content that keeps the public informed about our programmes, events, and services. You’ll work with a supportive team and gain hands-on experience across multiple communication channels.

What you’ll do:

• Write and edit news articles and press releases for public distribution
• Create content for newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, and website updates
• Develop social media posts and blog content to share departmental news and events
• Design or coordinate graphics and promotional materials including banners and posters
• Attend meetings and community events to gather information and connect with stakeholders
• Respond to public inquiries and information requests
• Support the development of communication campaigns for key initiatives
• Maintain records and files related to publications and public information activities
• Assist with general office duties including phone coverage and front desk support as needed

Skills/background needed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience writing and sharing public information; OR
• 7 years of relevant work experience in public information and communications; OR
• Associate’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience; OR
• Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience

Experience with social media, website content management, and basic graphic design tools (such as Canva) is valuable. Strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a team are essential. No prior professional experience is required if you have relevant education — we provide full training on our specific processes and tools.
