Role overview
You’ll teach writing and course content in seminar-style or large lecture classes as part of a college-based academic program. Your role involves assessing student work and helping undergraduates develop core writing competencies, critical thinking skills, and information literacy.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Part-time / Annual appointment. Non-tenure track position eligible for continuing status after 18 successful quarters of teaching.
Location: On-site position based at the workplace.
About the role
This is a writing lecturer position within a college system designed to create a vibrant learning community for undergraduates. You’ll teach courses aligned with one of several distinctive academic programs, each with its own thematic focus and curriculum approach.
Your responsibilities include:
• Teaching writing and course content in class settings (either seminar-style small groups or large lectures with teaching assistant support)
• Assessing and providing feedback on student work
• Developing and refining course materials and syllabi
• Supporting student development of written communication, critical thinking, and research skills
• Collaborating with graduate teaching assistants (in larger course formats)
Skills/background needed:
Required:
• Master’s degree (MS or MA) in Composition, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, English, Literature, History, Ethnic Studies, or a related field aligned with writing instruction
• At least one year of teaching experience
• Strong communication and feedback skills
Preferred:
• PhD, MFA, or other terminal degree
• Experience with learning management systems
• Background in pedagogical innovation and student-centered teaching approaches
No prior experience with specific programmes or institutions required—full support and training will be provided.
