Role: Technical Communications Operations Manager

About the Role
This is an operations and delivery management role focused on technical content publishing and customer support. You will oversee the distribution of technical manuals and documentation across online, offline, and print channels. The position manages publishing operations, vendor relationships, budgets, and delivery systems to ensure technical information is accessible and cost-effective.
You will partner with technical writing teams, IT departments, and customer support to improve how technical content is delivered and managed. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership and project management skills while working with diverse teams across different functions.
What You’ll Do
Budget and Vendor Management: Help oversee publishing budgets, licensing costs, and vendor services. You’ll work with suppliers and platforms to find cost-effective solutions for content delivery.
Customer Support and Content Delivery: Support customer-facing channels for technical content, manage support tickets, and identify solutions to common issues. You’ll work with customer support teams to monitor response times and implement improvements.
Publishing and Distribution: Oversee the release of technical manuals and content across multiple channels. Coordinate with writing and digital teams to process and deliver content on schedule.
Workflow Coordination: Manage publishing workflows, coordinate content reviews and approvals, and ensure all deliverables meet quality standards.
Team Leadership: Provide coaching and feedback to team members, establish clear priorities, and support professional development. Promote accountability and collaboration across departments.
Process Improvement: Use performance data and customer feedback to identify improvements. Standardize workflows and adopt new publishing and delivery practices as needed.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with technical teams, IT, customers, and vendors. Coordinate requirements and manage expectations across internal and external partners.
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Business, Information Systems, Publishing, or a related field, OR 10+ years of work experience in a related industry
• Experience with technical manuals, documentation standards, and publishing workflows
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PDF software
• Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and billing processes
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work with teams across different departments
• Experience with project tracking tools or content management systems is a plus
• Willingness to travel occasionally (5-15%) for meetings, training, or team support
