About this role:
We’re looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our newsroom and help shape how we gather, edit, and present stories across digital, social, and broadcast platforms. This hybrid role combines editorial judgment with digital content production, serving as a central hub in our newsroom operations.
As an Editorial Assistant, you’ll be part of a unified editorial team that manages story planning, production, and curation across all platforms. You’ll work closely with reporters, producers, and photojournalists to deliver accurate, engaging stories that matter to our community.
What you’ll do:
• Assist with newsroom coverage planning and editorial decision-making during breaking news• Help identify and develop stories that resonate with audiences• Edit and optimize content for digital platforms, websites, and mobile apps• Support newsroom operations and coordinate with reporters and production teams• Review content for accuracy, grammar, style, and editorial standards• Contribute creative storytelling elements including graphics, video, and audience submissions• Use audience metrics to inform content decisions and improve reach• Maintain journalistic standards and ethical practices across all work
Skills/background needed:
• 1–3 years of journalism experience, digital production, or related newsroom work (preferred but not required)• Strong news judgment and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce accurate, compelling content quickly• Familiarity with newsroom systems and content management platforms (preferred)• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment• Collaborative mindset with a solutions-focused approach• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent professional experience
Contract length: Full-time
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
