About this role:
We’re seeking an organized, detail-oriented Content Editor to help strengthen our editorial strategy and build stronger connections with the community we serve. You’ll work from home to edit and produce high-quality newsletters, commentary, and digital content while identifying new opportunities to engage audiences and bring community voices into our publications.
What you’ll do:
• Review, edit and develop commentary from contributors, working directly with writers to shape their ideas into clear, compelling pieces
• Identify potential contributors and story ideas through community feedback, social media and reader comments
• Write and edit headlines, summaries, image descriptions and other digital content elements
• Coordinate visual needs and ensure all content meets our editorial standards for style, accuracy and digital best practices
• Work collaboratively with a fast-moving digital team and adapt to evolving newsroom priorities
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and editing skills with excellent editorial judgment
• Ability to identify stories and content that will resonate with audiences
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with contributors of all experience levels
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Familiarity with standard editorial style guidelines
• Understanding of SEO best practices and digital publishing
• Comfortable learning new tools and technology
• College experience or at least one year of experience gathering or producing news and information online
• Enjoys collaborative problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
