Copywriter & Communications Specialist – Entry Level, Remote

About This Role

We’re looking for a creative, entry-level communications writer to lead our marketing and messaging efforts. You’ll tell compelling stories that connect with audiences, increase visibility, and build engagement across multiple platforms.

This is a fully remote position perfect for someone who loves creating clear, engaging content and has the drive to learn strategic communication from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

Content Creation & Storytelling

Write engaging content for newsletters, social media, website copy, brochures, impact reports, and promotional materials. You’ll gather and share real stories that showcase impact and outcomes. Manage our digital content library and ensure all writing aligns with our brand voice and mission. Translate programme data and success stories into accessible, compelling messages for different audiences.

Social Media & Digital Marketing

Create and schedule content across social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Monitor performance and prepare simple reports on how campaigns are doing. Help manage our website and digital presence.

Marketing & Brand Strategy

Help develop and implement marketing plans that increase visibility and community engagement. Maintain consistency in how we present our brand across all channels. Identify new ways to reach audiences and stay informed on marketing trends.

Public Relations & Media Support

Draft press releases and media materials. Assist with media inquiries and help build relationships with local media and community partners. Coordinate communications for programmes, events, and special initiatives.

Fundraising & Donor Communications

Help create materials that support fundraising campaigns. Develop donor communications, success stories, and testimonials. Assist with grant reports and impact messaging.

Event Marketing

Create promotional materials and communications plans for events, workshops, and community initiatives. Represent the organisation at community events as needed.

Skills & Background You’ll Need

• Strong writing skills – you can write clearly and engagingly for different audiences
• Enthusiasm for storytelling and content creation
• Comfortable managing social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
• Familiarity with Canva, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word
• Basic understanding of branding and marketing
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail
• Experience working independently in a remote environment
• Nice-to-have: photography or video experience, email marketing experience, experience with communications in the nonprofit, education, or community sector
