About This Role
A nonprofit organization is looking for a Grant Writer to join their development team. You’ll be the primary writer for all proposals, letters of intent, funding scenarios, and donor reports. This is a fully remote position where you’ll work from home and play a key role in securing funding for the organization’s mission-driven work.
This role is perfect for someone with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. You’ll need to be organized, communicate clearly both in writing and verbally, and understand what grant-makers are looking for.
What You’ll Do
Write approximately 30 proposals and 30 reports per year, averaging just over one submission per week. Conduct prospect research for potential funding opportunities. Prepare, submit, and track proposals in accordance with each funder’s guidelines. Maintain knowledge of the organization’s mission, programs, and strategic vision to continuously improve proposals and written communications. Serve as project manager for all grant proposals and reports, managing each submission from start to finish.
Coordinate across different teams to gather data, impact stories, and supporting documentation needed for proposals and funder reports. Develop and maintain the organization’s voice in all proposals and donor communications, ensuring they reflect the values and culture of the organization. Conduct follow-up communications with funders to provide additional materials as needed. Maintain a grant calendar and manage deadlines and timelines. Assist with donor relationship building and stewardship activities.
Skills/background needed:
Demonstrated experience writing successful fundraising proposals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of corporate and foundation fundraising. Experience using a CRM system or similar database, with solid technology skills. Ability to collaborate and work independently as part of a team. Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail. Full training provided for any tools or processes you haven’t used before.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full time, permanent role.
