We are seeking an Associate Technical Writer to join our Engineering team. You will transform complex technical information into clear manuals, work instructions, service guides, and digital training content for employees and customers. This role is ideal for an organized communicator who enjoys collaborating across Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
Create and update machine operation and maintenance manuals as equipment designs evolve. Develop technical documentation that meets applicable regulatory formatting and content requirements. Create standard operating procedures, test procedures, service bulletins, troubleshooting guides, and training materials. Develop assembly work instructions and audio/video learning content for Operations and Quality systems. Interpret engineering drawings, technical data, regulatory information, and input from technical subject-matter experts. Manage document revisions, change-control activities, and language-translation coordination. Participate in design reviews and concurrent product-development activities with internal and external teams. Evaluate new documentation formats, including embedded-machine, web-based, and video content, to improve the user experience.
Skills/background needed: You should have the ability to translate technical information for audiences with different levels of expertise, read engineering drawings, and interpret technical and regulatory documentation. Experience with document revision and change-control processes is important. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe applications is required. This role requires the ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds and work in office and manufacturing environments.
What’s a plus: Experience documenting automated or custom-manufactured machinery, familiarity with product data management, Adobe Photoshop, or audio/video production tools. Knowledge of machinery-related safety or regulatory standards and experience with Lean manufacturing principles or statistical process control is beneficial.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent position.
Location: Local on-site position in a manufacturing environment. Work is performed in a setting with noise, moving equipment, temperature changes, and required personal protective equipment. Travel is generally not required.
