Junior Technical Writer – Remote

We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our team and support software development and documentation projects. This is a fully remote role perfect for someone eager to build a career in technical writing with comprehensive training and mentorship provided.

You’ll develop, maintain, and manage technical documentation that supports the full software development lifecycle. Working closely with software engineers, architects, and project teams, you’ll ensure documentation is accurate, well-organized, and accessible to users and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation supporting software development and system updates
  • Develop software requirements documentation, business use cases, functional specifications, and process workflows
  • Produce user guides, system administration manuals, training materials, release notes, and installation guides
  • Document data processes, including data source descriptions, transformation logic, and data flow documentation
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system monitoring documentation
  • Establish and maintain version-controlled documentation to ensure document integrity
  • Develop documentation standards, templates, and style guides to promote consistency
  • Collaborate with technical teams to gather information and translate complex concepts into clear, accessible documentation
  • Use modern digital authoring tools to improve documentation quality and consistency
  • Participate in team ceremonies and support documentation updates throughout project cycles

Skills/background needed:

No prior experience required. You should have:

  • Strong written communication and editing skills
  • Ability to organize information clearly and logically
  • Willingness to learn technical concepts and software documentation standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, developers, and team members
  • Familiarity with basic digital tools (Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or similar)
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Preferred (but not required): Experience with Agile software development, version control systems, or creating technical diagrams and illustrations.
