We’re looking for a curious, ideas-driven writer to join our team producing daily news analysis and reporting. You’ll write original pieces that help readers understand the stories shaping current events at home and abroad. Your work will reach thousands of readers daily and help them make sense of complex issues through clear, engaging analysis.
This role is perfect for someone with strong news judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to find fresh angles on widely-covered stories. You’ll work closely with editors and fellow writers to plan coverage, deliver polished copy on tight deadlines, and stay deeply engaged with what’s happening in the world. You’ll monitor reader feedback to understand your audience and continuously refine your approach.
No prior professional experience is required—we provide full training and mentorship. What matters most is your passion for current events, your ability to write clearly and persuasively, and your willingness to think independently about complex topics.
What you’ll do:
- Write multiple original pieces of news analysis each week in coordination with your editor
- Deliver clean, well-reasoned copy while meeting daily deadlines
- Monitor major domestic and international news across multiple platforms and publications
- Find fresh perspectives on widely-covered events and issues
- Plan ahead to anticipate and cover major news events
- Read and respond to reader feedback to understand your audience better
