About This Role
We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our engineering team. You will create and organize documentation that helps both people and automated systems understand how our operations work. Your writing will be clear, well-structured, and designed to be found and understood quickly.
This is fundamentally a writing role, but your readers are different from a typical audience. You’ll write for engineers and for systems that need to retrieve the right information at the right time. Success means your documentation is accurate, properly organized, and easy to navigate.
What You’ll Do
You will:
• Write clear, structured documentation entries including overviews, guides, decision records, and glossary terms based on existing workflows and technical materials
• Create summaries and descriptions that help readers quickly decide whether they need to read the full documentation
• Organize documentation so information is easy to find and understand, with clear connections between related topics
• Write under length constraints, where every sentence needs to add value
• Interview engineers and developers to understand the reasoning behind technical decisions
• Work with engineering and governance teams to review and approve documentation before it goes live
• Maintain consistent terminology, voice, and structure across all documentation
• Keep documentation current by identifying outdated material and updating it as systems change
Skills and Background Needed
• Experience writing technical documentation for software, platforms, or infrastructure
• Ability to understand and summarize technical material from code, configuration files, and specifications
• Strong organizational skills — you understand how to structure information, create clear categories, and link related topics
• Experience writing reference materials, standards, or specification documentation
• Comfort working directly with developers and engineers
• Ability to keep terminology and style consistent across many documents
• Familiarity with Markdown, version control, and documentation stored in repositories
• Clear communication skills — much of your source material will come from conversations with technical staff
Nice to Have
• Experience with structured content formats such as YAML or JSON
• Comfort using Git and command-line tools for writing and publishing
• Exposure to taxonomy design or knowledge organization systems
• Background in developer documentation or API documentation
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, Terraform, or other configuration languages at a reading level
• Experience in regulated industries such as financial services
