We are seeking a skilled writer to help develop and edit content for a new scientific publication dedicated to translating genomic discoveries into clinical practice. This is a unique opportunity to shape the editorial direction of a launch publication and build a global community of contributors.
About the Role
As our lead editor, you will oversee the development of the publication from launch, including defining its editorial voice, recruiting and mentoring a team of contributing editors worldwide, and managing the peer review process. You’ll work with leadership to refine the publication’s scope, commission content, and establish it as a recognized resource in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and refine the publication’s scope and editorial direction
• Build and lead an international team of editors and contributors
• Oversee the peer review process and make final content decisions
• Commission articles, special issues, and other content types
• Promote the publication globally and attract high-quality submissions
• Monitor key performance metrics such as submissions and readership
• Represent the publication at conferences and professional events
• Champion accessibility and quality in all published work
Skills/Background Needed
• Strong background in scientific writing or publishing, particularly in medical or genomic fields
• Experience authoring or editing peer-reviewed content
• Proven ability to lead teams and build collaborative relationships
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to scientific integrity and inclusive publishing practices
• International professional networks a plus
• Experience with open-access publishing models is helpful but not required
Contract Length
Three-year renewable term, with manuscript intake beginning in late 2026.
Rate
Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Location
Fully remote. Occasional domestic and international travel required.
