We’re looking for a digital-first multimedia journalist to produce engaging video content for social and digital platforms. You’ll work independently on storytelling that captures attention and drives engagement, with roughly 80% of your time spent producing content from home and 20% dedicated to field work during significant weather events.
This is a fully remote role, though you’ll need to be available for occasional field deployments when major weather or news events occur. Field assignments can be intensive and may involve extended hours and travel with short notice, but the frequency varies by season and weather patterns.
What You’ll Do
• Produce short-form and long-form video content optimised for social media and mobile platforms
• Pitch and develop original story ideas aligned with daily content priorities
• Shoot, write, and edit video independently using Adobe Premiere
• Work as a solo field reporter during severe weather and breaking news, capturing footage, conducting interviews, and delivering reports
• Prioritise compelling, real-time visuals in the field, including storm coverage and human-interest stories
• Meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and strong editorial judgment
• Adapt content for multiple formats (vertical, square, horizontal)
• Collaborate with producers and editors to refine content for performance
• Contribute to daily digital workflows and editorial standards
What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience as a multimedia journalist, video producer, or digital content creator
• Portfolio demonstrating digital-first video work, including on-camera reporting, self-shot and self-edited content, and field coverage
• Comfortable appearing on camera and delivering live or recorded reports
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere
• Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit video independently in the field
• Experience producing content for digital and social platforms
• Strong visual storytelling skills and ability to capture compelling video in real-time situations
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet fast turnaround deadlines
• Willingness to travel frequently and deploy quickly to breaking news events
• Valid driver’s license
Nice to Have
• Experience covering severe weather or breaking news
• Interest in weather storytelling
• Experience with live reporting and live streaming tools
• Drone certification (or willingness to obtain)
