Overview: We’re seeking a Communications Writer to support strategic planning and exercise documentation. This role involves creating reports, analysis summaries, and presentation materials for government partners. You’ll work with a team to gather and synthesize information, then communicate findings clearly through written and verbal formats.
About the role: As a Communications Writer, you’ll enable learning and planning by collating data into clear, professional reports. You’ll prepare talking points and strategic presentations, working closely with your manager and participating in team meetings as needed. This is an on-site position based at the workplace, with travel required to support exercises and events.
What you’ll do:
- Write clear, professional reports and summaries from complex planning data
- Develop talking points and presentation materials for stakeholders
- Collaborate with team members to gather and analyze information
- Attend meetings and participate in planning discussions
- Support experimentation and exercise documentation
- Work flexible hours during periods of exercise support, including weekends as needed
Skills/background needed: No prior experience required. We provide full training. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, and comfort using Microsoft Office applications. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. You must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Desirable background: A bachelor’s degree is a plus. Experience with military planning, exercises, or government operations is valued but not required. Familiarity with creating presentations and reports is helpful.
Location: Local position available.
Travel: Travel required to support exercises and events. Expect up to 20% travel annually, typically lasting 5–25 days per assignment. Travel is primarily within the region but may occasionally be international.
Contract length: Full-time position.
