About the Role
We’re looking for a thoughtful writer and editor to help produce quality content about business, finance, entrepreneurship, and related topics. This is not a high-volume content role—we prioritize quality and originality over quantity.
You’ll work with experienced professionals to turn interviews, research, rough drafts, and ideas into clear, engaging articles, reports, newsletters, and other publications. The role values strong editorial judgment: the ability to identify what’s worth saying, what’s missing, what needs evidence, and how to make finished work significantly better.
What You’ll Do
Write and Edit
Transform interviews, notes, research, and rough ideas into clear, engaging business writing. Substantively edit existing drafts for argument, structure, clarity, accuracy, and tone. Recognize when writing is technically correct but still unclear or unconvincing. Help develop an authentic voice rather than generic corporate language. Translate complex business and financial concepts into language that professionals can understand without oversimplifying them.
Research and Challenge
Research unfamiliar industries and business topics quickly. Identify credible sources, statistics, and examples that strengthen arguments. Fact-check claims and question unsupported assumptions. Recognize when additional research is needed and when to seek expert input instead. Push back respectfully when an argument is weak or a topic isn’t worth publishing.
Develop Ideas
Identify interesting questions and underexplored topics. Work with experienced professionals to turn conversations and insights into original content. Repurpose strong ideas into multiple formats without simply summarizing.
Work With Modern Tools
We actively use AI tools to accelerate research, explore ideas, develop outlines, and improve workflows. However, we’re looking for someone who uses these tools thoughtfully—not someone who simply generates AI content and lightly edits it. Editorial judgment, original thinking, credible research, and authentic voice are essential, especially as generic AI content becomes more common.
Skills/background needed:
Exceptional writing and editing ability. Strong editorial judgment and instinct for what makes business writing interesting and useful. Experience in writing, editing, research, journalism, executive communications, thought leadership, or related work. Ability to learn unfamiliar business subjects quickly. Strong research and source-evaluation skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Comfort questioning assumptions and respectfully challenging ideas. Ability to work independently from incomplete instructions. Strong organizational skills and reliability. Genuine interest in business, entrepreneurship, finance, or related subjects. Comfort with modern AI tools or strong desire to become proficient with them. Willingness to receive direct feedback and revise your own work substantially.
Prior experience in finance or related fields is helpful but not required. We’d rather hire an exceptional editor curious about business than a finance expert who is only an average writer.
