About the role:
We’re looking for an entry-level Communications Assistant to help promote our organisation, its resources, services, and programmes to diverse audiences. You’ll assist in creating, producing, and sharing promotional materials across multiple formats. This is a part-time position perfect for someone starting their career in communications or writing.
What you’ll do:
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Planning and setting up displays that connect resources to events and topics of interest
Operating print production equipment to create forms, banners, flyers, and other materials
Preparing print orders and completing finishing tasks such as cutting, folding, collating, and binding
Designing and producing signage
Writing and editing copy about our resources and activities
Taking photographs at events
Managing inventory and departmental files
Skills and background needed:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or journalism is a plus, but not necessary.
We’re looking for someone with:
Basic computer skills and comfort using word processing software
Strong writing and editing abilities
Experience working with graphics and design (or willingness to learn)
Ability to follow instructions and work with procedure manuals
Good attention to detail and organisational skills
Strong verbal and written communication
Willingness to learn new software and techniques as they emerge
Basic camera operation experience is helpful but not required
