About this role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Communications Instructor to teach part-time courses in oral, interpersonal, and professional communication. This is a flexible, entry-level teaching position perfect for someone passionate about helping students develop strong communication skills. You’ll work 4 to 16 hours per week on weekday evenings, delivering engaging lessons that prepare students for career success.
What you’ll be doing:
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Teaching assigned communication courses following approved lesson plans and learning objectives
• Delivering engaging instruction using lectures, discussions, group activities, and interactive assessments
• Using a variety of teaching methods to support different learning styles, including online and hybrid delivery
• Developing and maintaining course materials, syllabi, and assignments
• Grading student work fairly and providing constructive feedback
• Keeping accurate attendance and grade records
• Creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
• Offering office hours or academic support to students
• Attending faculty meetings and professional development sessions
• Upholding academic integrity and institutional policies
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Speech, or a closely related field (or a Bachelor’s degree in another discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication or related field)
• Strong knowledge of oral, interpersonal, and professional communication
• Ability to design and deliver engaging instruction
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort using learning management systems (such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle)
• Experience teaching online or hybrid courses is a plus
• Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including adult learners, is valued
