The Opportunity:
We’re seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team in an on-site role. You’ll be responsible for keeping the public, stakeholders, media, and staff informed about our projects and initiatives. In this position, you will help develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to achieve programme goals. You’ll work on strategic messaging for internal and external communications, coordinate news events, write and edit news releases, and help create creative content materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Help develop and implement communications strategies to promote programme goals and accomplishments. Manage internal and external communications with stakeholders. Collaborate with other team members to align communication strategies with overall programme objectives. Help coordinate and implement special events including public meetings, open houses, and project tours. Monitor the effectiveness of communications efforts and adjust as necessary. Demonstrate flexibility, responsiveness, and professionalism when responding to emerging issues. Support other duties as assigned by programme leadership.
Skills/background needed:
No prior experience required – full training will be provided. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, with knowledge of journalistic writing style, grammar, and punctuation. Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, leadership, and members of the public. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and respond quickly to programme needs. Flexibility and a strong work ethic are essential.
Desirable qualities:
Experience working with government agencies or large programmes. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese. Background in infrastructure or transportation projects.
Location: Local positions available.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent.
