Help build a sustainable volunteer recruitment and communications system that will impact your local community for years to come. This is a full-time, entry-level position perfect for recent graduates, career-changers, or anyone looking for meaningful work in community development.
In this role, you will design and build the communications and volunteer infrastructure for a community literacy initiative. You’ll create messaging guides, design campaigns, develop recruitment strategies, and build systems that local staff can maintain long-term. This is capacity-building work—you’re creating sustainable tools, not managing day-to-day tutoring.
What You’ll Do
Communications & Outreach
Develop clear messaging that explains your organization’s work to different audiences. Create a content calendar, design templates, and campaign workflows. Plan and pilot awareness campaigns, track how people respond, and refine your approach for long-term success.
Volunteer Recruitment & Systems
Design the complete volunteer journey—from how you’ll recruit them, screen applications, onboard new volunteers, track their progress, and recognize their contributions. Test your recruitment campaigns to bring in new volunteers, and document everything so the team can continue the work after your service ends.
Skills & Background Needed
No prior experience required. We’re looking for:
Basic skills in content creation, writing, and planning
Ability to think through how processes work from start to finish
Comfort with computer tools and basic project tracking
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly with different groups of people
Spanish language skills are a bonus but not required.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract Length: Full-time, one year
Location: In-person position. Local positions available in your area, with relocation assistance potentially available for eligible candidates.
