The Role
You’ll join the communications team as a writer and strategist, responsible for developing clear, compelling narratives that advance the organisation’s goals and build public understanding of important civil rights issues. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on public awareness and support for equality and human dignity.
You’ll translate complex policy and legal developments into accessible language for diverse audiences. You’ll work closely with the communications director, collaborate across departments, and engage with media and creative partners to tell powerful stories.
What You’ll Do
Writing and Content Development
Draft, edit, and refine written materials including press releases, newsletter articles, fact sheets, blog posts, website copy, and digital media content. Translate legal and policy developments into clear, resonant language that reaches different audiences. Maintain a consistent voice across all platforms while adapting tone to context and audience. Meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Strategic Communications
Contribute to developing messaging frameworks and communications plans. Collaborate across departments to ensure communications work supports broader organisational goals.
Media Relations
Build relationships with journalists and content creators. Respond to media inquiries, pitch stories, and help coordinate interviews and media appearances.
Skills/background needed
Six or more years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or a related field. Exceptional writing ability, especially under deadline, with strong editing and proofreading skills. Understanding of media and storytelling that connects with and moves people. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, think creatively and strategically, and collaborate across teams. A demonstrated commitment to civil rights and social justice.
Experience in legal, advocacy, policy, or nonprofit communications is strongly preferred.
Rate
Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.

Full-time, permanent position.
