About the role:
We’re looking for a warm, people-first Communications Writer to help bring stories, campaigns, and everyday moments to life across newsletters, social media, and visual content. This role takes ownership of the writing and production that keeps audiences, donors, volunteers, and community members connected to the work. You’ll turn strategy and content planning into finished, on-brand pieces people actually want to read and watch. It’s a great fit for someone who’s energized by people and stories, brings steady follow-through to everything they touch, and does their best work with clear direction and support from a supervisor.
What you’ll be doing:
Writing: Write and produce newsletters across multiple audiences, each with its own voice and structure. Adapt your tone and messaging to speak naturally to different groups while keeping a consistent brand voice.
Social & Visual Content: Handle day-to-day social posting and captions across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Design graphics using Canva, including reels, carousels, and post designs. Edit and organize photos, and handle video editing for social channels as needed. Tag and thank partners and supporters across social platforms.
Calendar & Campaigns: Execute tasks on a shared content calendar. Bring campaign content to life from concept to finished post, working with your supervisor to prioritize and plan.
Skills and background we’re looking for:
Strong, adaptable writing that flexes across different audiences while staying consistent. A warm, relational approach—you connect easily with people and that comes through in your work. A good instinct for content: you can take a raw idea or detail and recognize what it could become, then shape it into a polished piece. Creativity to build a full story from a small detail. A steady, reliable pace—you follow through on deadlines and keep things moving without needing reminders. Comfort taking clear direction from a supervisor and turning it into strong work. Visual skills in Canva and basic photo editing; if you’re newer to these tools, we provide templates and training to help you get up to speed. Experience with social media platforms is a plus.
Personal or professional experience with foster care, kinship care, or child welfare is valued—it helps you write about this community with real understanding and care. However, we provide full training, so no prior experience in this sector is required.
Why this role is great for entry-level candidates:
This is a fully supported, hands-on role. You’ll work closely with a supervisor who provides clear structure, regular feedback, and high standards to help you grow. We have brand templates and presets already built to make visual design easier as you learn. You’ll develop real skills in writing across formats, social media management, and basic design—all highly transferable to future opportunities. If you’re organized, eager to learn, and excited about storytelling, we’ll train you on the rest.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent position
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Location: Fully remote.
Benefits: Health insurance (medical, dental, vision), retirement plan, paid time off, and professional development support.
