Are you a sharp editor with a passion for high-quality writing, strong project management skills, and collaborative success? We are seeking a Content Editor to lead the production of an engaging publication. In this role, you will oversee the entire publication lifecycle from concept through to both print and digital release. You will work with editorial leadership and other team members to deliver timely, accurate, and engaging content to our readers. You will have the opportunity to develop your own writing while primarily working with volunteer, staff, and freelance authors to bring their work to publication.
What You’ll Do
Editorial Leadership: Develop, manage, and execute the publication’s editorial calendar, schedules, and production timelines.
Content Development and Editing: Substantively edit complex articles for clarity and structure while preserving each author’s voice. Author articles as needed.
Team Coordination: Serve as a primary point of contact for editorial meetings, brainstorming, and article scheduling with team members.
Production Coordination: Manage workflows with team members and external partners to ensure smooth publication across both print and online platforms.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate readership trends and recommend workflow or content improvements to strengthen the publication’s impact.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Publishing, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in editing, publishing, or journalism.
Skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills; strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; comfortable receiving feedback and collaborating with diverse teams.
Interpersonal Savvy: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, take feedback openly, and build strong working relationships.
Skills/background needed: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Publishing, or related field; 5+ years of editing, publishing, or journalism experience; strong writing and developmental editing abilities; proven project management skills with reliable deadline delivery.
