Skills/background needed: No prior experience required. Full training provided.
About the Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Content Writer and Editor to join our team. You’ll develop, edit, and coordinate written materials that help teams communicate clearly and stay informed. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with different departments to gather information, organize content, and deliver polished documents on tight timelines.
You’ll be responsible for creating executive briefings, program updates, formal communications, operational notices, and other key documents. Your job is to take complex information from multiple sources, identify gaps or conflicts, and turn it into clear, well-organized content that different audiences can understand.
What You’ll Do
Content Development and Coordination
Lead the planning and delivery of regular written communications, including briefings, status updates, progress reports, meeting notes, and all-hands announcements. Create schedules, templates, and contributor assignments to keep everything on track. Work directly with team members, managers, and partners to gather accurate information and turn accomplishments, timelines, risks, and decisions into clear narratives and talking points. Identify and fix incomplete or conflicting information before materials are finalized.
Writing and Editing
Serve as the main writer and editor for presentations, memos, reports, emails, and other program documents. Translate technical or complex information into language that works for your intended audience—whether that’s executives, technical teams, or operations staff. Review content for logic, organization, accuracy, clarity, tone, grammar, and consistency. Rewrite or reorganize sections when needed. Build and maintain templates, style guides, checklists, and editing standards to keep everything consistent.
Task and Project Management
Track and manage communication assignments from start to finish. Review requirements, assign contributors, set internal deadlines, gather input, and make sure final materials meet all standards before approval. Handle time-sensitive communications and manage fast-turnaround review cycles while keeping everything accurate and properly documented. Work with technical and operational teams to verify facts, timing, impacts, and messaging.
Coordination and Meetings
Plan and run preparation sessions, team meetings, and coordination forums. Create agendas, invite the right people, share background materials, document decisions, and track follow-up items. Coordinate communications across teams and departments. Support organizational changes, staffing transitions, and new initiatives with clear, timely internal communications.
Organization and Process Improvement
Maintain organized files and records for all briefings, memos, documents, approvals, and final products with clear naming and version control. Make sure materials can be found, verified, and handed off during team transitions. Spot ways to improve communication workflows and approval processes to reduce confusion and last-minute scrambling. Create standard operating procedures, checklists, calendars, and guidance documents. Train team members and serve as the go-to resource for difficult writing and coordination tasks.
What We’re Looking For
You should have strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to take complex information and make it clear and accessible. You’re organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines at once. You work well with different types of people—managers, technical experts, team members—and can ask good questions to understand what’s needed. You’re comfortable learning new systems and tools, and you take pride in producing polished, error-free work.
You should be comfortable working on-site at the workplace three to four days per week and attending in-person meetings when needed. You have excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and plain language writing. You’re proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You can work independently, spot gaps or inconsistencies, and adapt quickly when priorities shift.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Public Administration, Business, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in Government communications, technical writing, program support, or communications for a complex technology or healthcare program is a plus, but not required—we’ll train you on what you need to know.
Experience with federal processes, action tracking, approval workflows, records management, and Government writing standards is valuable. Certification in project management frameworks or Scrum is helpful but not necessary.
Why Join Us
This is a great entry point into a meaningful career. You’ll develop professional writing and project management skills, work with talented teams, and see the direct impact of your work. Full training is provided, and we’re committed to helping you grow. You’ll have the chance to work on important projects and build relationships across departments and organizations.
