Position Summary
We’re looking for an entry-level content writer to support our communications and marketing efforts. This is a fully remote position ideal for beginners with a passion for writing and community engagement. You’ll work 10–20 hours per week, gaining real experience in content creation, editing, and digital marketing.
About This Role
In this position, you’ll assist with all aspects of communications and marketing, including:
- Writing, editing, and publishing newsletters and articles
- Creating and sharing event information across digital channels
- Managing contact databases and maintaining community networks
- Researching and interviewing sources for feature stories
- Writing press releases and other marketing materials
- Coordinating and supporting marketing events
- Building and maintaining social media presence
You may work from home, though you’ll be willing to conduct occasional in-person interviews or attend community events as needed. Video conferencing tools like Zoom will be used for remote collaboration.
What You’ll Learn
No prior experience required—full training provided. You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
- Professional writing, editing, and proofreading
- Social media management (Facebook, Instagram, and web platforms)
- Content design using tools like Canva
- Event coordination and community outreach
- Database management and contact organisation
- Interviewing and source verification
Skills/Background Needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time
- Basic familiarity with social media platforms
- Willingness to learn editing and design software
- Self-directed, creative, and flexible approach to projects
- Interest in community engagement and storytelling
- Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) is a strong plus
Students in Journalism, Marketing, English, Media Studies, or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply.
