Job Summary
We’re looking for a writer and editor with curiosity, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. You’ll have a genuine interest in local events, businesses, and community issues. No prior journalism experience required—full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
Identifying newsworthy stories by attending local government meetings, conversing with residents, and staying informed on local events, businesses, and issues.
Interviewing relevant parties and collecting quotes, facts, and data.
Taking photographs to accompany stories.
Drafting and proofreading news stories.
Publishing articles on the website and social media platforms.
Building and maintaining relationships with community contacts, local representatives, and other contributors.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Ongoing position
Skills/background needed: Strong writing and editing ability. Comfort with basic photography. Ability to work well with people and ask thoughtful questions. Genuine interest in community news. No experience necessary—we’ll train you on everything else.
