About the Role:
We are seeking qualified instructors to teach creative writing courses on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced educators to share their passion for writing with undergraduate students in a supportive academic environment.
What You’ll Do:
As an instructor, your responsibilities will include:
Teaching assigned undergraduate creative writing courses
Preparing course syllabi and instructional materials
Delivering engaging instruction and assessing student progress
Holding regular office hours to support student learning
Collaborating with colleagues on departmental initiatives
Skills/Background Needed:
Master’s degree in Creative Writing or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience and qualifications
Strong background in teaching creative writing across multiple genres (poetry, fiction, nonfiction)
Ability to develop engaging course materials and assessments
Commitment to supporting diverse learners in an academic environment
Previous teaching experience is highly desirable
Contract Length:
Part-time, term-based appointments available for fall, spring, and summer sessions. Positions are typically limited to one academic term but may be renewed based on departmental needs.
Rate:
Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Location:
On-site, in-person instruction required. Remote teaching opportunities are limited and subject to approval.
What to Know:
This is a non-benefited part-time position. Work hours are limited to an average of 29 hours per week. You will maintain an active candidate pool for one year, during which time you may be considered for additional teaching opportunities as departmental needs arise. A background check will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
