Editorial Assistant – Entry Level (Remote)

We’re looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our publishing team and support the day-to-day editorial operations. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to learn the publishing industry from the ground up, working with authors, agents, and internal teams to bring books to life.

About the role:

You’ll provide editorial support across the full publishing lifecycle—from evaluating new book proposals and managing acquisitions, to project managing titles through production. You’ll work closely with authors, agents, and colleagues across marketing, sales, art, and other departments to keep projects on track and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Reading and evaluating book proposals for acquisition consideration
• Managing project timelines and coordinating between authors, agents, and internal teams
• Preparing acquisition materials, including profit-and-loss statements and memos
• Creating and maintaining title data in our content management system
• Writing descriptive copy for books and promotional materials
• Attending and participating in editorial, marketing, and sales meetings
• Handling administrative tasks like scheduling, responding to messages, and organizing materials
• Serving as a key point of contact for division-related requests
• Working toward independently editing a manuscript within your first 9–12 months

Skills/background needed:

• A genuine passion for books and publishing
• Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and databases
• Ability to learn new content management systems quickly
• Polished communication skills (written and verbal)
• Responsiveness and reliability in working with colleagues, authors, and partners across locations
• Ability to deliver accurate work and follow through on commitments
• Publishing experience or editorial work (including internships or journalism) preferred, but not required—we provide full training
