We’re looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our publishing team and help bring romance stories to readers.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with authors, evaluate submissions, and support the editorial process from acquisition through publication. You’ll develop manuscripts, build relationships with authors and agents, and collaborate across departments to ensure each title reaches its intended audience. What You’ll Do:
Evaluate and assess romance manuscripts and submissions to identify promising projects.
Monitor industry trends, reader preferences, and competitive titles to spot acquisition opportunities.
Develop acquired manuscripts for content, structure, voice, and market positioning.
Build and maintain relationships with authors and agent partners.
Work with marketing, publicity, sales, and design teams to position titles effectively.
Maintain editorial schedules and communicate proactively with authors, agents, and team members to keep projects on track.
Support senior editors with editorial reads, list management, and administrative tasks.
Handle correspondence, copyediting assistance, proofreading, and other tasks needed to support the publishing programme.
What You Bring:
Passion for adult romance and genuine familiarity with the genre—including tropes, trends, and reader communities.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
A collaborative spirit and willingness to work well as part of a team.
Initiative and self-motivation—you’re comfortable taking on responsibility and seeing tasks through.
A genuine interest in book publishing and editorial work.
Full training provided—prior publishing experience is not required, but a strong love of romance is essential.
