We are seeking an Entry Level Environmental Policy Writer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to environmental protection and water quality initiatives while working in a hybrid format that combines remote flexibility with in-office collaboration.
Role: Environmental Policy Writer
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent position
Location: Hybrid (minimum one day per week on-site; remote work available for remaining days)
What you’ll do:
You will develop, plan, and coordinate the writing and updating of environmental permits and policies in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
Writing clear, legally sound environmental permits and policy documents
Collaborating with planners, engineers, scientists, and managers to ensure permits are science-backed and defendable
Engaging with external partners through committees, workgroups, and meetings
Assisting with the development of programmatic approaches to environmental compliance
Coordinating stakeholder groups to gather input on policy decisions
Supporting workshops and public comment opportunities for partners and stakeholders
Providing guidance and technical expertise on environmental programs, policies, and regulations to local government and partner organisations
Skills/background needed:
No prior experience required. We provide full training. You should have:
Strong written communication skills
Ability to research and understand environmental policy and regulations
Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, well-organised documents
Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams
Ability to learn new processes and tools quickly
Professional approach to stakeholder engagement
Education requirements:
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Relevant college coursework or a degree in environmental science, planning, public administration, or a related field is a plus but not required. We welcome applicants from all educational backgrounds and will provide training on the job.
