We are seeking freelance writers to write news stories on a variety of topics including local government, public safety, courts, education, business, and community issues.
In this role, you’ll work on assigned writing projects that may involve attending public meetings, conducting interviews, reviewing public documents, and producing accurate stories on deadline. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home and manage your own schedule as a freelancer.
What we’re looking for:
We welcome writers with strong writing skills and an ability to research and report accurately. Prior professional writing experience is valued but not required — we’re happy to train the right person. You should be reliable, able to meet deadlines, and comfortable working independently.
Roles: Freelance news writer, producing stories on community issues
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application. Compensation is per story, based on topic and length.
Contract length: Ongoing freelance
